Use of Cookies
We’ve all heard the web people talking about cookies. What are they? Cookies are very small pieces of code used by the majority of websites to record statistical information about visits to the website. At JW3 we use cookies to help us understand how our website – www.jw3.org.uk – is used by visitors in order to improve it. And to provide each visitor with a view of the content on the website that’s more tailored to their interests.
So, how do cookies work? When you visit a website that uses cookies such as ours cookies are downloaded and stored on your computer’s hard drive to provide the website owner with statistical information. For example, how many times a computer is used to visit particular pages of the website. The information cookies provide does not include or identify any personal details, such as your name or email address or anything of that ilk.
You can also adjust the settings on your computer to decline any cookies if you wish. This can easily be done by activating the reject cookies setting in the web browser on your computer.
If we allow advertisers to advertise on our website they may also use cookies, over which we have no control. If advertisers use cookies, their cookies would be downloaded once you click on advertisements on our website.
